curtain? Probably pretty good, actually. That double door thing is really strange...

Mock it up with a sheet and a tension rod, and if you don't like it, you can always put the door back in place.

Make the curtain dark and reddish-earthy to match your lovely bookcase. Use heavy weight fabric, like an ethnic looking throw/pashmina. The mirrored star burst decoration on the wall is very nice!
