It's dark but I love the colors and textures, especially on the clouds and water.

Thanks! It's my favorite of tonight's shoot! As a matter of fact, I may find this one to be a fave, for a long, long time... or at least until I make my next marina shoot. :)

Thanks farlane and 33!
From my car window, this was the view. I'd head out to the piers for "other" shots, and then return to the car to allow my camera to warm up, each time thinking... "Man, is that pretty!". It was the last shot of the night, and the best.
I'll prob talk myself into enlarging it and hanging it on the wall, but don't tell anyone that I talk to myself, K?
(giggle... you're not gonna keep that a secret, are you?)

I completely agree - it looks charming in this light with all the shadows and artificial lights. I love this place but hadn't seen it at night before (That's one to you & one to farlane today for posting things around Michigan I'd not spotted before).
BTW speaking of boats and night - have you seen the ones from the Detroit River taken at Night ... these are also pretty cool for the same reason:

I hadn't thought of that. Most marinas are full of boats, with pier and water backdrops. This view is by city lit background, pointing inland; it's no wonder I thought it so pretty!
And, I did, I did see the Detroit River freighter! (thanks to you)
That's an awesome shot! A freighter would have to be the Cadillac of riverboat rides, making that shot possible, but "What a frame!" Thanks for the heads up in that one DBB. :)
And Hitz (my photoshop master).... I had to shop this one. Not much, but the marina cast was yellow, which is nice if the subject were only piers, but this boat wasn't as attractive in antique yellow. Blue to the rescue, and the popping clouds were inadvertant, which I did what I could to back out of. I wanted the picture to represent the exactness of what I saw, and the clouds were not that prevelant, true to life.
This picture reminds me of staying home, when you know there's a big party on, to which you were invited, but for whatever reason, can't make it.
Looking out the window, the other driveways are empty. Everyone, who's anyone has plans tonight... and you're alone.
There's no one to call. Your closest friends are there... at the party. While they're out toasting (toasted) the celebration, your feelings of longing and separation, turn a dark corner... under the cupboard to the Vodka, and into the fridge, in search of mixers. No longer are you....
Hitz! Stop me! I'm babbling!
paulhitz (67 months ago | reply)
omg, did I get here in time? are you ok? Is there any Vodka left??

Everybody's here...
Jose came.
Mr. Smirnoff is famished (nearly empty), but here.
Some guy named Seagram is here. He brought a friend, but we haven't been introduced yet.
I got a couple of wine-os here, and some dark complected gal named Kahlua.
Looks like the male-female ratio is a little lopsided, but I don't intimidate easily... It's all good.

Oh, and btw! I'm fine, thank you, :">
Oh Look! I forgot about the other cupboard!
Mr. Smirnoff has two brothers, and some gal named Schnapps, but she goes by Peach.
What a Hussy, eh?

My ship came in!
Ok, well... I know it's a boat... but still! :)
Thanks farlane! Let's see if I can one up this one soon. I'll keep shooting. :)
