That's you!?  Pro User  says:

www.flickr.com/photos/thatsyou/185347462/

this was the first pic i ever posted to flickr. i'd been seeing this character all over town. i'd been a long time watcher of the streets, but this little guy made me want to actually get involved my self. i eventually met the man behind the lil' shorty, surprised to find he was the prolific paste and sticker artist known as solve, and that this stencil was just another thing that he did.

Art scenes can be intimidating and pretentious to break into, when you feel like the new kid on the block. but whether you were the biggest graf-head in the city, or some country bumpkin who didn't know what a mean streak was, Solve would just offer you a beer and make you feel welcome. I've had friends die before, but this is the first time someone knew was straight up killed, and over what? an argument. he wasn't a gang-banger or dealer or rapist or asshole. he was a cool guy, and now he's gone.

Much love to you out there, RIP Solve....

this is fucked up. i never knew solve. he was one of the first sticker peoples i saw that really bent my perspective... the type... the graphic elements.

all i know of him is his work. sorry everyone... its hard to lose a friend. i lost a friend about 8 years ago over some bullshit. 10 dollars actually... the other guy was afraid to fight... shot him 4 or 5 times in the chest. my friend was a drug dealer...just trying to get some money owed to him... but it still was wrong. guy who shot him took one in the spine running off though, now he cant walk. karma has its ways.

either way... we live and we die... and all i know is that this guy impacted me... and i never met him. so big ups to you solve... you were a big influence... i planned on drinking tonight... but this one is for you fella.

sorry chicago.

Solve was one of the reasons i got into street art. I remember seeing the Solve girls by where i used to live on Lawrence posted up on ground level buildings. Then i finally met him! Wow! What a laugh. and that he stood at least a foot and a' half over everybody ;)
(oh gosh, i was fine for a second before i started typin'... now the tears are commin' again)
I'll always remember the first art party we had. The energy was intense. All those artists from various backgrounds of street up there, all those paint fumes, and a production line made on the floor
w/ cardboard--Solve and Swiv hooked that up.
The drunken bike ride up north... the all night mexican joint where we ate at four in the morning. The slaps and him startin' taggin' busy street and all. I got that "getting ready to throw shit up" feelin' just watchin' him speed up on his bike...stop. blam. Big-ass SOLVE sticker. or drippy-tag with an, "oh shit, that one's NiiiIIICE!"
F#$%ing bastards that did this. I can only hope they get theirs.

I understand now the writing of the names of the fallen.
I mean i FEEL IT now.

Bless you, man.

Oh wow.

This is . . . really, extremely powerful.

That's one of the things I really like about Art, how everyone treats each other like family, this unspoken respect that resonates through everybody and their artwork.

I didn't know Solve, but thank you for the oppertunity to know about him. I'm gonna go look him up right now, and see what's up.

Thank you for this one.

I'm really sorry about your loss. Keep your head up and keep drawing. Even though your art is already amazing, I have a feeling he will be watching you draw and help give you even bigger ideas. His art will live on! Rest in peace SOLVE!

For some reason I hadn't seen this, with all the comments, until just now.
Every time I think I'm numb enough to keep moving, something (like this) reaches out to me and makes me feel again. So much pain and overwhelming love.
Thank God (or Goddess, or whatever it is) for the art. Thank God for the artists.

My heart's with you... I'll keep writin' his name on my pieces.

I had a dream last night where i was in Chicago and we were looking at Solve's work on the street. I woke up and just felt so sad. But glad of all the good memories.
