Along the same ridge as the Swiss version of Mount Rushmore, it apears the Wu-Tang Clan have created a secret lair.

Going snowboarding with a geologist is a very fulfilling experience. You are experiencing nature, discussing it, doing some excercise, and having a good time all around. Granted, I've been snowboarding with Georg for years, but he wasn't always a geologist. I learned (and forgot) all sorts of interesting things about these rocks on the opposite side of the Walensee. It's one of the most telling formations near the Zürich area, and can be viewed perfectly from Flumserberg.

This was also my first day in a long time hauling around the 30-300mm, which was ideal for shots like this. A quick snack break in the parking lot meant I could get on top of the car and snap a few test shots in the (very) grey light. Moments later it rained, and shortly after that it snowed gigantic snowflakes. Fun was had.

I haven't figured out peak names yet, or even the name of the entire formation (which I've been meaning to do for a long time) - but as soon as the internet turns back on again (it's anti-SOPA day) I'll do some more research.

As I drove up the squiggly mountain road to Lenzerheide one morning I was both disappointed that I hadn't stopped earlier- yet also relatively proud to be ahead of schedule (for the first time- ever).

I promptly lost that headstart by stopping about half way to capture the morning sun warming up the trees across the valley. It only took about 3 minutes to shoot, but as typical for my luck a bus swerved right past. And another. And another...

Three busses are not easy to pass on a mountain road- especially not this one. So, (as usual) I was late, but the picture came out ok and the subsequent shred was perfectly acceptable.
