First harvest of Nectarines

I've been looking at all the lovely red nectarines on the tree, which weren't getting ripe, and then I noticed a bunch of ripe fruit on the ground and picked a big bowlful.
We just experienced a 5.4 earthquake centered in a neighboring town, so I expect there will be even more on the ground when I go look today. The quake had tipped a small glass vase, which is the first time we've experienced that.
