Fireworks

Fireworks

I think not going out to shoot has made me lazy when it comes to processing and uploading pictures. I have been meaning to go out and take a few pictures, but I lose all motivation when I think about spending a few hours in the cold. Yesterday was no exception when I heard that there would be fireworks around the War Museum. I just didn't want to go out. Surprisingly though, I could catch a glimpse of the show from my balcony (actually, this was shot from my bedroom). So I got my camera out and took a few shots between some buildings. Which is why this picture has such a weird aspect ratio. While I did mention that the fireworks were at the War Museum, the building we see here is actually the National Art Gallery.

This picture was processed and cropped in Lightroom, using the Develop module.

Cascading Fountain

Cascading Fountain

Well I'll admit that I have somewhat lazy recently. Winter and short days just somehow make me really lazy and unmotivated. But we're quite some ways into the new year already, so I finally figured it was time to upload something. So here's an old picture from last summer, back when it was really pleasant to go out at night. For those who haven't seen this yet, it's the Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, across the river from downtown Ottawa.

Simple digital blending from 3 exposures, done in Photoshop using layer masks.

Another Generic Panorama

Another Generic Panorama

I'm honestly quite surprised that I haven't posted a panorama of Ottawa from this spot yet. I've posted one from the other side of the river, and one from the bridge that we can see on the left, but I'm quite sure this is a first from this side of the river.

This panorama was stitched from 7 portrait pictures, each one being a blend of two or three exposures. Alignment and blending were done in Photoshop.

I think this is probably the Colorado River before the Hoover Dam. But maybe at this point, it's called Lake Mead. The interesting thing about Lake Mead is that because it was formed recently after the Hoover Dam was built, its edges are very rough. It looks quite peculiar.

This panorama is composed of 7 portrait shots, automatically aligned and blended in Photoshop. A few adjustment layers were applied.

I just recently noticed how empty my New York set was, so I went back and looked for some pictures. New York City is definitely the biggest city I've visited, and standing on top of the Rockefeller Center and looking around made that quite clear. And while these are probably mostly office buildings, it is still very impressive. And I know there's an error in the stitching, but I'm not quite willing to fix it right now.

Vertorama processed from 4 exposures, 3 for the foreground and one for the sky. The pictures were aligned in Photoshop and manually blended using layer masks.
