I just saw these at a shop near my home and snapped the picture. Didn't actually make them. But, I've asked around and have been told you just take a globe, cut a hole at the bottom and a smaller one up top (with a Dremel tool). You can then get the wiring at IKEA and just run it through the top.

You can probably find globes in thrift shops and I know IKEA sells the wiring!
