What's a Road trip Without a Road
A quickie road-trip last week heading to Nevada. Early morning sunlight helps keep me awake in hour 19 of a very long day. More to come.

Thanks to all, I love it when you can find a road that just speaks to the great Western outback.

What a great shot! Totally reminds me of how the exits can be 300 miles apart in Northern Nevada. Scary if you think you're going to run out of gas.

Thanks Patti, Nikki.
Suzanne I'm glad when they warn you with a sign that says next service 140 mile or so. I had one bad time a couple of years ago. I was driving a stretch on back country Nevada roads. I fueled up in Las Vegas and headed to Pioche and I was pulling my little trailer. It chews up gas a little quicker than normal. Pioche was closed at least I couldn't find a gas station. Smart thing to do would have been to stay till morning and look again.
No I decide to drive on I thinking I could make it to Ely. I had a half tank and off I go. I get down to about a quarter tank and I'm past the point of return, it's the middle of the night and I didn't have a phone. I now know I don't have enough gas to make it to any town. I even turn off the engine trying to save fuel on down hill stretches. While I still have fuel I decide to pull off and stay the night. Maybe I can flag someone down to call for help, this is the middle of nowhere. About a half hour later I see a headlight way down the road. I decide to try flag them down and this is a little scary for me and them. He stops and god must have been watching. He was on a very long drive up to Idaho and had about 15 gallons of gas he bought along the way. We put 10 gallons it and I gave him 40 bucks for the gas and the help. He then followed me to Ely to make sure I made it, very cool. I never want to get in that situation again, but I'm glad that there are truly great people out there who will help a stranger on a dark road in the middle of nowhere.

Great story! There really are more good people then bad out there but we're asked to forget that by modern news media. Angel over your shoulder.

Nikki, that's what I thought I'm not a super religious person at least in an organized sense. I am a spiritual person, that's why I like the great outdoors it lets me think and revitalize my soul.
So here comes this guy the first guy not only does he stop he has what I need and stays till I'm safe, Angel indeed.

Lovely composition, lovely muted colors. The whole photo is WONDERFUL.
Bodie Bailey (73 months ago | reply)
Dee thank you, I tend to prefer muted colors. I think it night be from my training in black and white. I lean more to the graphic with less emphasis on color. Although once in while if I find the right colors I 'll use them for effect also.
I do think you photos are very good I see a lot of potential there.

Fabulous photo! It's wonderful how the light caught the piece of roadway off in the distance. I love the perspective, and the way you captured the undulations in the road in the foreground. And then there is the other awesome portion with the soft focus and muted colors!
Bodie Bailey (69 months ago | reply)
Thanks Trudi, It was tricky because I was looking into the Sun and it was early morning, but you could see for miles.

A pleasant, well balanced, well composed image.(as seen in AA gallery)
No tricks, straight ahead with an interesting line juxtaposition and nice variation in values.
