Testing... One, Two, Three! - Trent Barton

Testing... One, Two, Three! - Trent Barton

Time to say goodbye to my digit compact camera (not for the time being), and hello to a new resident to photography... Finally, I've entered the world of DSLR cameras, and here are a few testers.
After giving it go around the village of Radcliffe-on-Trent, it has passed the 'get a photo of a bus' test, which the Nikon was questionnable after several shots of not got getting good photos... After only ten photos, it did very well. The Canon did exceedingly well however, with not one bad shot.
However, the Nikon will be staying for a while as the camera bag has not arrived, and for the time being, will only be used around home or the village of Radcliffe.
Optare Solo 490 (FJ10 EHN) waits at Radcliffe, Vicarage Lane on Radcliffe Line to East Bridgford... There is a reason for the East Bridgford bound service heading towards Nottingham.

Huge View!

Huge View!

Looking towards the main concourse of the station, you can notice the full detailed plans of the platforms, which isn't going to be much however.
The station platforms will be refurbished and will undergon a 'spring clean', including repaints the canopies and the roof which is covered in soot.
New LED signals will be fitted to provide more capacity for the station while new canopies will be covering Platform 6 (near the car park) as its mostly uncovered... The platform layout will remain the same however.
Since the plans are given the go-ahead to refurbish station, it won't be too long until major disruption will arise... Temporary toilets which are in porta-cabins have started to appear too!

You can find the model in the ticket office.

Bringing Back A Well Known Feature

Bringing Back A Well Known Feature

One of the most well known features of Nottingham Midland, before it fully demolished was the railway bridge running right over the station, back in GCR days.
The bridge will be back in the form of the extended tram network, with Arkwright Street seeing buildings being demolished to make way for the lines from the station twoards Clifton and Chilwell.
The multi-storey car-park seen here is nearing completion, with Vinci Construction UK not wasting time to get it built, who are also in charge of rebuilding the station itself. The new car park should be opened later this year... The tram lines, in 2014/2015.

Look To The Future For A Historic Station

Look To The Future For A Historic Station

Times Are A Changing, as we say in Nottingham as Nottingham Midland is undergoing its biggest change in the next couple of years, to make the station more modern, yet retain its current architecture, because of its Grade II* listed status.
One of the many areas to undergo change is the concourse, where it will undergo new layouts and huge refurbishment.
The txi ranks in the front part of the station will be closed of in favour of a public meeting area which will feature coffee stalls and small shops, in the main ticket hall, it will move from the north side to the south side, for main access to the tram lines and station, whilst more retail space will be added around the ticketing hall.
Road layouts are changing too, with Carrington Stret staying as normal, but Queen's Road on the right will be expanded whilst Station Road will be blocked off near the station end... Interesting isn't it!
