We have a paper shredding dog too, but only when we aren't home. Once she destroyed a book, all bets were off.

She's very polite to keep the destruction confined to her bed! Progress?

I have a four-year-old golden retriever mix who still destroys shoes. It's gotten especially bad during the past year, when he left me with exactly two pairs of work-appropriate shoes -- down from probably about 12, some of which I've had (and loved) for years.

Somehow they manage to go right to the things you love the most, don't they?

Dogs are like kids, if you don't hear them they are usually:

1. Not Breathing.
2. Getting into something...usually bad.
3. Sleeping.

Usually it's #1 or #2.

: It looks like it was some sort of XM radio receiver or really cool toy that will never have the chance of being returned.

It could be worse Jon, she could have gone through some important wires.

Peewee destroys something daily. We put a baby gate at the door of Jackson's room so Peewee can't get in and EAT ANOTHER PILLOW.

I think it's time to invest in a crate (if you don't have one) or an outside kennel.... gulp. That would drive me CrAzY!!

Rufus is 3 1/2 now and only eats socks and underwear. And anything in the trash can. At least it's nothing of any real value, but the trash sure makes a mess ... and then another mess when he inevitably throws it up an hour later ...

My friend had a cat who chewed wires -- he'd wake up and hear this rhythmic thumping, and it would be the cat's body being thrown to and fro by the current. Once unplugged, the current stopped and the cat ran away, shaken.

fwap-fwap-fwap-fwap-fwap-fwap... could be worse!

Yeah, my kid does that. And she usually finds a way to incorporate water with her art. Have you considered taxidermy?

@thejacksons bwahahaha "fwap-fwap"

Pisces got into the trash once - when we got home I found her in my closet eating from a take-out box that had once housed broccoli chicken. The mess was horrific - the trash and the puppy poo the next day.

Do I see some expensive electronic gear in that pile?

My own dog once ate the entire center -- think a 3' diameter all the way through - out of my mattress. He was looking damned proud of himself too.

We have a little shredder, and silence is something I dread. He ate a couch once. And he's just a little 15-pound dachshund! I had a complete shit attack and screamed and yelled at the little couch-eater. He retreated under the bed for two days, only coming out when my husband was home. Then we discovered (later) that he had also shredded the bottom out of our bed.

Some sort of satellite radio gizmo's?

my previous dog, bless her sweet soul she got cancer 3 yrs ago, went though eating a ton of stuff in her eight years of life:
for example:
one hard book cover
two whole baguette loaves in one sitting
4 solid wood window sills
10 anti-allergy pills (for her - she had eaten a spider)
one pyrex plate from stove that had cooked a chicken (I dont' actually know if she ate any of the glass but it was pulled onto floor and broken everywhere).
you'd never guess from her sweet looking picture
