Where are the computers? Underneath? Mac Pro? Mac Mini?

    3. blupics (52 months ago | reply)

Hey Alpha, yeh, I have 2 computers hanging underneath the table, a MacMini and a G5, plus other assorted gear.

This looks like a Dwell Magazine shot! (the above one, that is!) I took one of mine for you!

You German people! I showed Tomas this and mine, lol.
T mentioned you had bought the orchid! He agrees it is very Dwell!

How do you attach all that to the desk? That tower weighs a few pounds - what kind of screw can hold it??

This is a really cool concept - I love the hanging idea. I don't think it'd work real well for me, though, if someone were sitting opposite me, I'd probably inadvertantly kick them every two seconds.

The table I got at Room & Board in San Francisco. It's the Andover 78x38 Dining Table and is the only table I could find after a pretty exhaustive search that satisfied my need for a table with a wider than usual depth (it's 38" - wide enough for two people to sit across from each other comfortable).

The G5 is held up to the bottom of the table with a bracket found online which is specifically made to hold a G5 (or Mac Tower) off the floor by suspending it from underneath a table surface. I no longer know where I got the bracket.

Love the three legged lamp in the background - I've seen a red one before - can I ask where it's from?

      Nice use of the Tolomeo's

forgetthisname: the lamp is called the Palma Table Lamp; see...

Is there a box containing all the mess just out of the picture or are you really that tidy? I'm very envious.

      Lovely room.

Naw, scotpics, all the untidiness is relegated to the underside of the table.

I do so little, now, that's not not done on the computer - from bill paying to doodling - that it's getting hard to even find a pen in my apartment anymore. So a lot of the things that used to clutter a desk up have disappeared from my live/work space.

excuse me, how often do you need to move a single cable and have to redo part of the cable arrangement?
      Thx for sharing your setup

    22. blupics (48 months ago | reply)

Andresito10: not very often. It's not moving a cable so much as the addition of a cable that sometimes caused some angst. I tried to alleviate some of the difficulty by grouping cables and using hinged plastic channels running the length of the table which could be opened to allow the addition & management of a cable more easily.

I've just moved to a new apartment and gotten a new and larger table which I'm going to convert into my new work table. My plans are to document the process and put a how-to presentation together with tips and suggestions online for people who are interested in doing something similar.

definitely many people will get benefited from looking at the process, best if you enjoy it too :)
