It seemed like a great night for photography. There was a full moon and the clouds were cooperating quite nicely but it was about 15 degrees below zero and the wind was so fierce my camera was shaking on the tripod. Most of my shots tonight didn't turn out cause of the motion. Some of it can be seen in the stars of this shot. Oh well, at least it wasn't a waste cause I still got a couple of shots out of the excursion.
This photo has been chosen as a winner of the weekly contest at the Scientist Photographers for the week of March The 12th 2006. Thanks go out to all the admins in that group for the recognition and if anyone enjoying this photo is a scientist in profession (or maybe even at heart) then get on over to the group's pool and check out the types of shots we're coming up with.
Feb 15th 2007. Well it's been a year to the day since I first uploaded this image to flickr, it brought me a little exposure and some small acclaim, it's by far the most popular image on my stream. I'm glad to say that I feel my work has gotten even better since taking this shot on that cold January night, but I'll never forget the day I took this one, my bones still ache from the cold I had to endure.
I've found a home for this photograph in the winter catalogue of a German Carpet company, Kymo. It should be making it to print very soon, so keep your ears to the ground and your eyes open, 2007 is going to be a big year for yours truly.

All the accolades are well deserved. I really enjoy the obvious sence of place you captured and the cloud movement gives it a timeless quality, the seeming permanence of the little shack standing against the elements. Thought provoking imagery.
