12/8/08: 30 Days of Gratitude Day 3
So I ordered these boots I found online... They are called Earth Vegan boots and I got them because the reviews said they were warm and comfortable, and the price was right. What more could a girl need, right? Well. I only knew half the story about these things... As it turns out, they have what is called "negative heel" technology. I read this before I bought them but didn't really know what it meant... What it means is that the bottom of the boot is structured such that your heel sits lower than your toes, requiring you to walk and hold your body in such a way that you stand straighter, and you have to expend a little more energy as you walk, due to standing on a mild false incline, so you burn additional calories just walking around and you build your calf, thigh and core muscles. As if that were not enough, these things are warm, oh so comfy, and have great traction on snow and ice. Of course, as an added bonus, they are Vegan certified, using no animal products or by-products, and I feel pretty good about that.
So today I am grateful to the makers of these boots, for keeping me warm and dry and giving me a nice little workout along the way!
