7 Days: Day 5 -- Water

tickle, tickle... :)
AHHHHHHH! I'm super ticklish.
7 Days: Day 5 -- Water by bluesleepy.
When I read the theme for today, this area was the very first place I thought of to take my photo. Right behind me is the building at which Kurt works on Naval Station Newport. In front of me is the Pell Bridge, connecting Aquidneck Island (where I am) to Conanicut Island, which is where the town of Jamestown is located. The bridge is how to get to all places south and some places north of Newport, and is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the area.

This is the view he gets to see every single day!! Not bad, eh?

I know this is a beautiful day, but I believe the bridge looks even more beautiful on the days when the fog is rolling in.

Tracey -- I'm actually sitting on a picnic table for this shot! The guys come out on their lunch break and fish from the rocks. It's pretty amazing.

One Beach -- Kurt can't see this from his office. His office windows face another wall, and there is another building obscuring the view from his building anyhow.

Doow -- It really IS amazing!! It's a suspension bridge 1600ft long, and at its highest point, the roadway is 215ft above the water. It's high enough to let a naval aircraft carrier glide underneath it. It doesn't SEEM that high when you're going over it, I think because the rise is so gradual. It's a toll bridge, but frequent users can buy discount tokens that make each crossing only $1.

WinMom -- Thanks! I just had a pedicure done this week, and my daughter picked out the color. She knows I love pink!

I used a circular polarizer for the colors in this photo. I love that filter. I don't have any idea what I would do without it!

Karyl - I actually thought of you when I was pondering what to do for my shot today, and made a bet with myself that this bridge would be in your Day 5 photo. :-)
