Right Before the Tornado Warning

On Tues I was on highway 1-25 headed to Denver, CO and I had just passed Pueblo. I had never seen clouds this close to touching down. I didn't know they had issued a tornado warning prior to pulling over to take this photo until we got hit with hail, heavy rain and wind. I couldn't see in front of me while driving so I exited the highway and was the first car to park under a bridge for shelter. It didn't take long for a other cars to do the same. We waited the storm out and we are all lucky to be safe.

I felt like a tornado chaser and now that I think about it was a little exciting! My son was very scared and excited at the same time.

Spectacular shot! I'm glad you're safe--I grew up in West Texas and we used to chase these things--until we caught one! You seem very close, and they are very unpredictable, and a little scary!

You go girl! You and Dezy are a couple of tornado chasers! So thankful you are both fine and it ended up being an exciting experience. I will mail you a warm sweater if you can't find one there in Denver. Surely you can but who wants to be cold in June? Take care!

That's a great shot but tornado chasing can be hazardous to your health, take care and be safe.

That is way cool. I saw a 'small' tornado when I was 17 in SE Texas; I was in a cotton field in the middle of nowhere and had to take shelter in a ditch. I've wanted to see one again ever since. The only thing damaged was a fence ...the barbed wire was pulled apart and as thin as a hair in places.

      Excellent job!

I think this is a great image!

Blueskydesert, we live near Shreveport and have seen a couple bad storms, I always look for the trailing clouds to see if I need to take cover!

    31. NapsWithCats (57 months ago | reply)

Now THAT is a cloud shot! Super timing and composure (and I mean composure both ways).
