The similarities of the Pepsi logos to the Obama logo is just a coincidence. Take a look at this article from Slate: www.slate.com/id/2198198/
I didn't even notice this until you pointed it out, by turning the Pepsi logos upside down and rotating the new Pepsi logo to closely match the red curve of the Obama logo. Very clever.

Seeing the ads around Chicago on billboards and CTA trains made me think it was some Obama thing. They don't say "Pepsi" anywhere on them, but what they do have seems more like an Obama ad.
