yet another for the reinterpreted set.

it's hard to grasp exactly how big the eiffel tower is just by looking at photos. most of the photos that are out there are of the entirety of the tower and are take from across the seine or down the courtyard. for this shot I wanted to give a sense of exactly how BIG the tower truly is. This is taken from a lounge at the Paris Hilton (oooh, bonus search result hits for that mention).

The original was kind of flat (as were most of the images coming directly out of the camera. Also had some distracting cranes in view (one covering part of eiffel and a second on the horizon to the left). I cropped the photo to pull out the first crane and a portion of the building in the lower right that was under scaffolding, and then cloned out the crane on the horizon. Then intensified the colors in Aperture. Finally I added an 80% intensity Sepia Tone to the image (actually like the intense color version, but looks a little on the fake side though... colors are a tad too intense).

Wow that is a massive structure. And I always thought there was a large and open space around the tower. Had no idea it was encircled by buildings like that...

btw, i like the sepia one better.

      thanks.

if you've never been it is easy to think that it is in isolation. most images of it do tend to isolate it. which is understandable (within a day i must have gotten 100 pics of it all by it's lonesome) but sadly that tends to take away from the immensity of this structure.
