the residence of an old Japanese scholar

last year I went to Matusaka. There was a residence of Motoori Norinaga who is a Japanese national scholar during the Edo period (1603-1837).

    昨年の松坂旅行の際の写真、本居宣長の住居。質素で知られたとおり、とても素っ気ない邸宅でした。

this is an old residence of an old scholar, we preserve as a tradition.
we live in a modern house than this one, of course.

When I worked in Japan we had a tatami room for naps which looked sort of like this. makes me sleepy just looking at it.

      :)

I miss old japanese house. Last time, when I visited 弘前, I have been 太宰治's 斜陽館 . I feel good there.

would have been nice if there was some contrasting and focus.
