2009.01.28 OaD | Ocotillo

Continuing the flora theme this week (with my desert plants): we have an Ocotillo in our front yard. It blooms about 3 times a year and looks dead for the rest of the time. It's in it's dormant state right now. The spikes look formidible but they aren't nearly as onery as cactus spines. Here's one that I took a while back of an Ocotillo in bloom.
