W.H. Nickels' Grave
This is the final resting place of William Henderson Nickels, Jr.
W.H. served with the Confederate Army in Co. C/F&S of the
64th Mounted Infantry of Virginia during the Civil War. He enlisted
on February 19, 1863 at Holston Springs. He was promoted to
Commissary Sgt. by August 31, 1863. He remained a soldier
until at least January 6, 1865 when he was present on the
inspection roll of that date. He owned and operated Nickels Store
in Duffield. His wife, Elizabeth (Duff) is buried beside him. W.H.
is related to Keith along a lateral line.
