In 2003, my parents became very ill. Each with separate illnesses that ultimately claimed their lives.

At the time, I guess I was consumed with other things and didn't notice the two pecan trees that began growing on their own in the front yard of my parents' home. My guess is they must have been offspring from my neighbor's huge pecan tree.

In 2009, I noticed them because they were growing too close to the house and beginning to cause damage.

Unfortunately, I had to have them chopped down. This is the remaining stump from one of the two pecan trees. At the time it was cut, I could clearly see six rings inside. That's how I knew their lives began the year my parents' ended.

A little end of the month project that my daughter and I do each month. All the loose change in the house at the end of the month is deposited into her savings account. Hopefully, she'll learn the value of her pennies, nickels, and dimes.

I drove an unfamiliar county road today. This sign was one of two posted advertising fresh produce and dairy products. I used several layers in pse9 to achieve this effect.
