Death of a Highwalk
![]() 122 Leadenhall is finally being demolished to make way for a Richard Rogers skyscraper that's already got a stupid "cute" nickname (in this case, The Cheesegrater).
Until the end of January you could go up some stairs from Leadenhall Street, around the podium level of the existing building, and cut around to Bishopsgate. If you were very cheeky, you could nip up the fire escape to the top of an old Midland Bank building. Now it's all closed, and there are excavators doing a good job of ripping up the concrete. I suspect nobody else cares, but I liked the idea of highwalks and their fragmented remains, and it's sad to see another go. Commentstim barrass

Yes, I used to enjoy that one, especially as you'd end up right next door to my office. In fact, at one point I could sit at my desk and watch the odd curious individual discovering that walkway.
