Rural Mount

Rural Mount by NashvilleFiles.
Built in 1799 by Alexander Outlaw for his son-in-law Joseph Hamilton. Both of these men were instrumental in founding the States of Franklin and later Tennessee. (ref: Historic American Buildings Survey).

This building was recently added to the Tennessee Preservation Trust's "Ten in Tennessee" list...a roster of some of the state's most endangered historic sites.

Wow, very cool shot.

Why on earth is this rotting away, though? Seems to me it would be at least mildly important.

This place is very beautiful...I was there today and this home has a lot of history...the architecture is amazing...the inside of the home is kind of in ruins but you can tell how beautiful this home used to be...I think also that there are some spirits from the past that are still roaming in the structure...if anyone can tell me more on the history of the home that would wonderful...thanks!
