Sunset_Beachy Head

It was the very end of a beautiful day and this was the last of it. Unbeknownst to me at the time it was to turn out to be the last day of summer.

Beachy Head cliffs are the highest sheer sea cliffs in England. It is a regular suicide jump spot, as can be testified by the priest that was patrolling the cliff tops with his binoculars in one hand and his faith in the other.

I suppose he was there to talk people out of jumping or maybe to give them their last rights? I nodded genially and wished him a good evening as we passed each other, wondering how many people would jump all the faster when they saw him approaching with his book and spyglasses.

Pointing the Way Home

On the top of the cliffs at Beachy Head, there is a large cast iron dial set in the ground with a compass direction etched into it along with all the distances and directions of the cities of the world.

Amarie has her finger on the one pointing her to home city, Copenhagen, it was 968km away..

Eastbourne Pier

This was our last day of summer "day out", the same day that ended at beachy Head cliffs.
