Cerro de Guadalupe - Bogota, Colombia

View of Bogota with a backdrop of Monserrate Hill and Guadalupe Hill, a must see when visiting Colombia. 3,152 Meters above sea level, Monserrate hosts a famous sanctuary in existence since 1640. You can hike, take the funicular or cable car to get to the top. While many people visit Monserrate for its religious significance, foodies can take in a delicious meal at the cozy and classy Casa San Isidro Restaurant, serving delicious French fare with excellent views of the city. This shot was actually taken from another must-make stop, the
Colpatria tower in downtown Bogota.

Wow, this is my first view of Bogota ever,
and it looks so great ! Is is isolated in the
mountains or is there other cities around ?

AmUniverse - Bogota is actually a pretty
large city and much safer than is to be
expected from the numerous travel advisories
against Colombia. This mountain region is
toward one part of the city only :)
Allergic to Apples -- it's actually quite
interesting that you like the sky. When I got
to Colombia I was kinda sad because all three
days were scheduled to be cloudy. When I got
home and started going through the pics I was
actually glad because I got some great
textured sky captures! Glad you enjoy them :)

Nice pictures! I would like to use 3 fotos
(this one and perhaps two of the plaza de
torros) for a lecture in London www.theatre-event.com on the theatres of Bogotá. You can see a
first version of the visual part of the
lecture www.theateradvies.nl/Assets/swfs/presentation
009.swf . I have listed the photographer as
"blackhat". Please let me know that
this is okay.

Great photo! But the mountain in the center
is called Cerro de Guadalupe, the Cerro de
Monserrate hardly appears at the left of the
photo. Anyway that's a great photo!
