Horn of Plenty

The red pear in the lower center was the juiciest, sweetest, best pear I've ever eaten! I've tried several red pears since and none have measured up.

For lighting I believe I used two floor lamps, each with three 60-watt light bulbs, the blue GE cool light bulbs, I think. I may have had a 100-watt work light as well, I'm not sure. What I needed was someway of softening the light; it's too harsh, too direct here I think. Yet, I think it's managed about as well as it could be with the tools I had available.

I learned that arranging items for a still life is a lot of work. I remember doing a lot of looking in the viewfinder (or the screen) to judge how the arrangement appeared to the camera's eye. I have a great appreciation for the talent and artistry exhibited by those people who do catalog shots, etc. It ain't as easy as point and shoot. :-)
