Nuri's Ribs
The gloriously glistening baby-back ribs at Warung Nuri. Probably the heartiest brunch dish I have ever had.

Warung Nuri
If you ever get a chance to visit the Ubud area in Bali, be sure to make a stop at Warung Nuri or Naughty Nuri's Warung. Owned by an Indonesian-American couple and popular among locals and expatriates alike, the laid-back shack (or "warung" in Indonesian) serves a variety of traditional Balinese and Western dishes.
What you really come for, though, is their out-of-this-world rack of ribs - more of that in the next pictures. Although the official operating hours is 10AM to around 9 PM, Warung Nuri has been known to close early on occassions due to sold out ribs. We were there at 10.30 AM and already, first-timers and regulars were waiting for theirs. My friends were not so lucky when they went the next night at 6 PM, when the place was completely full and the ribs were... well, they closed early that night :)
This is really, then, one of those places where you must come early and be hungry. Ribs for brunch? It's all worth it at Nuri's.

The Drink at the Hu'u Bar
To young hipsters in Bali, the Hu'u is known as one of the best night spots in town. To me and my family, it's the only place opened at 5 PM New Year's Eve not snobby enough to not let us chill out after a long day of sightseeing.
To be honest, I've completely forgotten the official name of this drink, but it's in the vicinity of "mint juice" or something like that. It's very much like a mojito, sans the alcohol and mixed with some sort of fruit juice instead. Served with thinly sliced homemade chips, it was the perfect thirst quencher on a hot and humid New Year's Eve.
Apparently, their lychee martini is also pretty legendary. Not the one like I had here obviously, but hey, I'll have a lychee on any drink even if it's just there to refer to its more infamous sibling.
