On this day 3 years ago we hand to put down my daughters Border Collie as she had been ill for long time and could not be cured. She was called Doppan and my daughter got her when she was only 8 weeks old.

On the way to the veterinarian we took her out for the last walk and María could not hold back the tears. When Doppa noticed how her best friend felt she jumped up to comfort her. Fortunately I had a camera in my hand so I could capture this precious moment which shows so well how close they were.

In order to keep down the size of the Icelandic fishing fleet, which was far to big for our fishing stocks, we had for a long period regulations that forced fishermen to destroy their old boats before building a new one.

The intention by making these rules were good but the negative side is that most of the old wooden boats were burned down when their owners built new modern fiber boats. Fortunately some of the boats survived and are well looked after now.

Soon after I made this photo “Hafdís” disappeared – lets hope it was rebuilt but not burned down.
