Giving it up for GAS

Giving it up for GAS by bitzcelt.
It takes a whole stack of cash to fill up my tank these days. Looking on the bright side of things, at least I am not driving a HUMMER. It cost about $120 to fill up one of these. I am glad I am not one of the thousands of selfish morons who is stuck with one of these. Then again if you can afford a Hummer you most likely don't care about how much gas costs, pollution, gobal warming or the rest of us living on the planet..

Think about us: a normal car has a tank of about 60 liters, and to fill it, costs about 90 euros, which is about 140 US dollars!
Makes one think twice about joy riding!

@Amalfia, thank you for sharing. We have been spoiled with cheap gas for so long that many people drive big cars and trucks that use a lot of gas. Since gas had been so cheap it also discouraged the development of mass transit sytems in many cities and encouraged the development of sprawling suburban communities. It is not unusual for people to live 30 or 40 miles (50 to 80 kilometers).

You certainly pay much for gas than we do. To Fill a Hummer up in Finland it would cost $276 US dollars.

Great shot. Cost me (well the company that employs me!) €87 to fill a SWB Ford Transit last week. That shot really encapsulates it.

great idea and well executed too, and the more everyone thinks about this the better, it might be the only way we will change our ways

If you think it's bad over there, in the UK it now costs me £70 ($140) to fill up my Audi A4 Diesel - Which is just an ordinary car, certainly nothing like the vast Hummer!
Diesel here costs £1.24 ($2.48) per litre!

yes you do Mike - my mini (with it's mini-sized tank) is costing $100 to fill, so I'm heading over to your side of the pond in a few weeks, just for a vacation from the fuel prices over here!! Oh, and i might just take some pictures while i'm there ... but that's obviously not the REAL reason for packin bags and sitting on planes:-)

anyway, i love the originality of this, and of course it demonstrates your usual mastery of a glorious blurry picture:-)

ps - i'd feel very honored if you'd mail me any recommendations for tasty 'brown' beer in NC as we'll be passin thru on our trip. we've discovered many a good micro-brewery by accident on our stateside adventures, but I'm all in favour of cutting down the 'gas' costs and random approach:-)
