The water has receded now and this building
is on dry (or drying) ground now. But when I
was over here, another local resident said he
hadn't seen it this bad since 1996 (long
before I moved here).
I was still living back there during the 1996
floods. The water was probably this high
here, but I couldn't really get there because
of closed roads. My uncle lived in one of the
hard hit sub-divisions (I think it's called
Cherry Hill, if I recall correctly). He had a
lot of water damage. I remember going over to
help him clean his house out and couldn't
believe how much stuff was damaged throughout
the subdivision.
Yes, Cherry Hill was one of the nearby
neighborhoods that got hit hard back then.
This time was nowhere near as bad, but a
couple of the roads in the area are still
closed today.
