Blue dragon (pteraeolidia ianthina)

Blue dragon (pteraeolidia ianthina) by käptncook.
Bare Island, early dive on a splendid Saturday morning. One fact about these nudis is very interesting: they are solar powered, the brown dots are little plants they farm in their body, converting solar energy to sugars. See the seaslug forum for more info.

That is a really good nudi shot. That camera setup is worth it's weight in gold.

I tried very hard to find one of these last year in a place that somebody described to me, but sadly could not see it. Some day....

Thanks Bill, Alistair, Lea and Scott!

Scott, at Bare Island I have seen them generally on a wall in 8-10m depth, you would need a deep breath of air before submerging in snorkel outfit... For the first time I have also seen one at Oak Park yesterday - surprisingly on a night dive.
