yeah, they looked like ceramic to me. As
though the repair guys up in the tops of the
towers just dropped the old ones in the sand
when replacing them...

My husband was wondering where this pic was
taken at. He is an avid insulator collector,
and would have LOVED to have those in his
collection. Yes, they are ceramic. He
thinks that they were made by the Lapp
insulator company.

scare_all: I found these at the foot of some
high tension power lines on National Wildlife
Refuge land near Drawbridge, a ghost town
just southwest of Fremont, CA. We had special
access to the Refuge while conducting the
Christmas bird count for the Audubon society.
