Lost and found

A turkey feather on the forest floor at Mildred Harris Audubon Sanctuary, Kalamazoo, Michigan.

This is probably the last of the spring vegetation; soon the leaves will block out the sun and all of this stuff will disappear until next spring. It's the circle of life.

Wednesday evening walk into the woods. We were too late in the season for flowers.

Lights, camera, hold still!!!

Lights, camera, hold still!!!

Jack-in-the-pulpit at the Mildred Harris Audubon Sanctuary in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As expected, a light breeze, with stronger gusts, was blowing because we were out to take pictures of wildflowers.

Tech: Yonguo YN-560 triggered with an Aputure Trigmaster radio remote. The flash was camera right. Flash was set at f/11; ambient was at f/8. The flash was snooted with a Rogue Beam Bender (without grid or diffuser).

Why did the killdeer cross the road?

Why did the killdeer cross the road?

Because it thought it was a chicken.

Taken during a lunchtime walk at work. This is a common ground dwelling bird in Michigan. It seems to like baseball and soccer fields for nesting.

Do you really want to hurt me?

Do you really want to hurt me?

Why do so many lawn owners hate these things? Just look at it.... If I had my way, I'd just let the lawn go back to prairie grass. The cats would love it, that's for sure. I don't know who's idea "the lawn" was, but obviously that person hated the human race.

And I found a new way to waste time tonight! I can, from Lightroom, open a raw file as a "Smart Object" in Photoshop, duplicate the layers, change the exposures and then the blend modes....
