Horn Creek

Horn Creek

Horn Creek is framed to the west (left) by Dana Butte and to the east by The Battleship in this image, taken from Hopi Point on the South Rim of Grand Canyon. Horn Creek cuts a jagged gash from the rim of Granite Gorge south across the Tonto Plateau. The broad, gently rolling Tonto offers hikers access to a spectacular array of locations within Grand Canyon. This HDR capture is a composite of five exposures spanning a range from +2 to -2 stops centered on meter. The RAW files were blended in Photomatix and the resulting TIFF was finished in Photoshop Elements 9.

Grandeur Point

Grandeur Point

Looking east from Powell Point, the Esplanade fin capping "The Battleship" stands out. This distinctive feature defines the bottom frame of the above image. Garden Creek canyon lies beyond, bounded to the east by the snow covered rock layers below Grandeur Point. Cedar Ridge and O'Neill Butte bound the next canyon over and, much farther in the distance, Vishnu Temple and Wotan's Throne stand strong near the North Rim. This image is a composite of five exposures. The initial composite was created in Photomatix, then finished in Photoshop Elements 9.
