Wow, this is great. Not only the rendering of the photo but the house standing in resistance to the concrete around it. Long may it stand.

That is awful that they totally surrounded her, but good for her that she refused to budge. I suppose it will be pulled down now.

Excellent shot.
Wouldn't it be interesting if they kept the house where it is.

An interesting postscript: They discovered a book she had written, a first-person tale of war, adventure and espionage. For a while it looked as if she had a hidden past. Then it turned out to have sprung from her imagination. She was born, lived & died in this house.
Edith Macefield's home still stands today... and yes, it was an inspiration for the movie, "Up".
The best photo I've seen of it.

The indvidual versus those with financial power. I appreciate the the postscript info. just above me here ! The neighborhood looked a whole lot better with the several, individual, old, small, historical, 'family' homes - each with its own unique design and character - as compared to this giant BOX - COMPARTMENTS building that replaced them, except for - this survivor fighting the deep-pocket's powers ! The photo shows that at least 'this time' someone, (this elderly, senior Seattle-ite), defied ... and hung on to this precious, to-her home. Had she 'somehow' been forced to give up her home, her life might have been shorter because of the negative emotional impact of loosing her life's home - with all her memories tied to it. If it weren't for resistance, developers would probably try and cover every square foot of land with new (de)struction ! Read NYC development history and you'll learn about this type phenomenon - and its impact on ordinary citizens lives ! Anyway - an "interesting photo" spawns thoughts from differing viewpoints ! -- Your photo is VERY interesting ! -- Thanks for the pleasure ! ... from a native Seattle-ite :-)
