Snakes in a Plane

Snakes in a Plane by richardmasoner.
Well, sort of a flat plane. Network and storage and power and other cables running out the back sides of servers in a test lab. This is *after* the lab monkeys cleaned the place up.

This is indeed ugly, but it's a lab for test servers, and the lab space is shared among several different groups. I own a handful of machines in this lab, though they're all sitting on a bench instead of in these racks.

That's nothing compared to xconnect patching on tens of metres of distribution frames at some exchanges I've seen.
[Not my current empkloyer's exchanges, obviously ;+)]

It's quite tidy really, but are any of those cables labelled against the actions of the random cable puller gremlin?

Labelling? What's that?

Seriously, this is all temporary. This configuration changes on a daily basis. The networking not so much, but SAN is expensive so the FC gets swapped out a lot.
