Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Columbus Blue Jackets @ ACC, Feb 19, 2009

Seen from box 201. Pity we lost in a shootout but otherwise the game was very evenly matched. See it large.

great shot. What type of lens did you use?

The photo was taken using a Nikkor AFS 12-24 mm f/4 G ED IF DX lens. I also had a Tokina version of the same lens with me and did a comparison. As expected the resolution of the Nikon was slightly better but both lenses performed extremely well. I have taken other shots like this one at other games using the Tokina. See my "Goings-on Miscellaneous" set.

Great use of the Nikkor. You use the Tokina 17mm lens or the zoom version (12-24 / 10-17, etc)?

Great shot! How did you get the camera in...I've never tried at the ACC, but at BMO field I've been turned back at the gate for having "professional" equipment.

it's not against the rules to bring in a cam with 75mm or shorter. I was ready for the security resistance but this time as I was shuffling in (the private box entrance - I was invited by a client) the guard asked me if my bag had been checked and I said "yes" (lie) and he waved me through. It was a bit chaotic at the doors so one takes these opportunities to think fast and go with the flow. Other times I've had my bag checked and they're ok so long as they don't see a big lens.
