Lilly E. Gray, Victim of the Beast 666

Lilly E. Gray, Victim of the Beast 666 by bigbrownhouse.
An oddity here at our local cemetary, posted in honor of 06-06-06. Our dear departed Lilly has inspired much speculation, but the facts remain elusive. The best information out there comes from writer and Flickr-ite Richelle Hawkes. Please read her latest article:

All I have been able to find out is that, according to her obituary, she died in a hospital.

Not that it rules out beastly foul play...bwaahahahaha

Hmmm. And it seems like such an odd thing to put on a tombstone, especially in 1958. She lived to be 77, which is not too shabby for someone born in 1881. Maybe she was hospitalized for for some sort of mental illness that presented itself like possession? I guess we will never know.

AWESOME!!! I'm a paranormal spirit hunter. I have spent a lot of time in graveyards. I have never seen one like this!! There is myth of a Vampire, I sat out at and did a shoot on, but nothing materialized on the film for me. I'll be back. Where exactly is this?

Her birthday is June 6.
And 666 is supposed to be the mark of the anti-christ.
But I don't see any other 6's in her birthdates.
By saying "Victim of the Beast 666" it sounds like they are referring to the end of the world in the bible.
Very weird indeed .....

Ok... so I was just doing math, since that is my job now I guess I see everything is numbers. Check out the dates....

June 6
1+4+1 + 6
9+5=14
14-8 = 6

that would be three 6's
hmmm

I guess you missed the other part of her birthdate...

1881 ... 18 is divided by 6 three times, and 81 is 18 in reverse. Added to that, she was born 06-06. Perhaps she was born at 06 am as well?

Interesting information on here. Seems she wasn't even born on June 6 but June 4, 1880. Makes even a more interesting twist to the inscription because now there are no sixes.

The beast sent Lilly Gray to the grave
history of what happen was never saved
time may tell, the stone may say
but for us we must kneel and pray

they say 666 is the mark
but numbers can't be seen in the dark
for her death maybe our dismay
was it on the devils day

her legand may be underground
was she heaven or hellbound
was her tale a one with twists
does her headstone as her lifestyle fit

as the flowers on her marker bloom
can be seen night or day
is this something sinsiter,someting gloom
or did she just do it her way

Lilly's story may baffle or confound
"devils lantens" looking down
obvious connection assume a clue
or Aleister Crowley just collected his dues

I read, read, read the fine article. (Recommended.)

For those short on time, paraphrased excerpts (for brevity) follow:
------------------------------
Her husband, Elmer Gray, viewed the government and law as a criminal, evil organization hell-bent on kidnapping, imprisoning and murdering innocent citizens without cause or provocation.
...
He blamed the law for the death of his previous wife and clearly considered her [Lilly] a victim.
...
With all the conspiracy, anti-government, sentiments of victimization within, it is difficult and perhaps foolish not to come to one conclusion-that Elmer L. Gray was responsible for placing the outrageous phrase, "Victim of the Beast 666" on his second wife Lilly's gravestone, and that it refers simply to the government, law enforcement and officials, with whom he likely tangled with his entire adult life, and the dynamics and beliefs based on his experiences.
