Black Brook Livingstone Brothers
The family of Hugh and Catherine (MacLean) Livingstone were cousins of the Big Bras d'Or Livingstones. Four sons served in the Great War, three of whom -- Hugh, Charles and David -- died, each of them at famous places in Canadian Great War history.

Hugh died of wounds at Ypres, Charles was killed in action during the battle for Kenora Trench near Courcelette, David KiA at Cambrai. The sole survivor was Rod, eldest of the soldier-brothers, an officer in the 2nd Construction Battalion, 'The Black Battalion'.
