The Elusive Butterfly of Love

Butterflies are not cooperative subjects.

At least not the ones around here!

The Monarch butterflies here (unlike at the zoo!) just flit and zip about, and hardly ever land anywhere near me.

So this afternoon, I went chasing after one I had spotted...

I stepped off the dirt road that cuts between the cornfield and the meadow, and into the tall grass...

...and ZIP! I was gone!

Swallowed up by the grass and weeds that hid the gully I hadn't seen.

Which, as it turned out was a bit more than just grass and weeds. I came out all itchy, welts forming on my arm from some sort of poisonous something or another.

Of course, the butterfly was long gone.

Laughing hysterically, I am sure.
