      Why is the chinese edition of deathly hallows and order of the pheonix shorter than the US versions?

      Because deathly hallows and order of the pheonix are both separated into two volumes, and I just showed the book 1.

      Is the first book originally called the philosopher's stone?

      The UK version is called the philosopher's stone. When it was published in the US, scholastic was worried that the US audience would not know what a philosopher was so the title was changed for that edition only (a decision, Rowling still regrets).
