Paderewski medallion

Frank Wilczek's grandfather Jan Wilczek fought with Haller's Army in 1919 - 1920, one of 20,000 Polish Americans recruited to help liberate Poland.

Polish pianist and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski (aka Ignaz Paderewski) became the first Prime Minister of the newly liberated Poland in 1919. This medal commemorates 90 years of Polish independence. It was given to Frank, in honor of his grandfather's service, by representatives of the Society of Polish War Veterans in America.
