Landscape Arch - Arches National Park

Landscape Arch at Arches national Park in Utah

I've been busy getting ready for my first one-person photo and painting show in a small gallery in downtown St. Louis. The opening is April 19th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. You are all welcome to attend if you are in the St. Louis area at the time.

Arches National Park in southeastern Utah is one of the most amazing places I've ever been. This arch, named "Landscape Arch", is 306 feet long - a whole football field !!
On September 1st, 1991, a huge 60 foot long slab fell from the right side, about 180 tons of rock. Since that time, this is as close as they will let you get to the arch.

Truly impressive. I like the idea of "hiding" the sun behind the arch :) Excellent postprocessing with vivid but not fake colors!

A ton of Wall Arch collapses articles state that "... it's the first collapse of a major arch in the park since nearby Landscape Arch fell in 1991."
I see your photo was taken March 2008. Typical media spreading misinformation around.

      Nice shot BTW.
