Hey Rich.. I was impressed at the much better layout and space in their trucks.! A place for everything and they kept everything in it's place! Not like our untidy & messy ambulances!
Plus having the stretcher in the middle meant you could work on either side of the patient & not get in each others way!

That'll be the German engineering! Seriously though I remember reading a report on the layout of German ambulances. This was felt to be the best as it provided better patient access just as you say.
