Alternative Avonmouth
Most visitors to Avonmouth seem to visit Avonmouth and go to either the old flour mills at the docks entrance or a little further up the road to the coal silo.
Not that i am disputing their greatness, i cannot help but feel the pics are all very much the same. Here is my amended version hopefully shedding new light on old subject matter. Constructed around 1995, these silos link the coal supply at Portbury to Avonmouth via a long conveyor system that stretches under the river. The trains pass under it and are automatically loaded in 36 minutes. Perhaps the port authorities could consider my new colour scheme and add some spark and vitality into Avonmouth? Originally red, they have faded to a dull orangey red, not disimaler to a 1980's Ford Escort overdue a polish. CommentsBernard Matthews

Excuse my simple-mindedness, but why they don't load the coal onto the trains at Portbury?
