Berezin - about the USM, it *might* help, but the
fact that you said run *more* USM implies you
already did some... I think this could take
more, but there's only so far you can go
before other things start to go.
Re request for explanation: - I think the
composition is crowded (ie there's not enough
room around the parts that are nice - main
tree in the middle and the roots - should
have left more sand) - and I think the left
side seems almost arbitrarily cropped - you
didn't make the crop make any sense out of
the jumble of stuff going on there - the
light is also relatively flat - the focus
quality is medium, and I don't know that
color added anything to this shot - there's
already so many confusing variables here that
I think a sepia treatment or a black and
white would have served you better interms of
bringing out the strengths of the shot (
because there are several there)...
I've also seen a ton of shots like this -
nature photography wise - and while this is
okay - it's not an amazing addition to the
genere - nothings been reinterpreted, I don't
get anything personal about YOU from seeing
it - does that make sense?
probably way more information than you were
asking for.
I actually like your stuff with the wooden
doll quite a bit!
I think some of these haters have never been
walking in the desert, something I do in CA,
NM, and TX.... It's hard to capture that
landscape accurately, and I feel like this
photo does it. Good work!

Even at the small size it feels a bit soft, and the composition, while being okay, doesn't move me particularly.

BigFrank, do you feel like I need to run more USM on it?
AsadK, what would make it more engaging for you?

This is great. and dj12lee, i thought it was an HDR. If it's not i'm even more impressed at the detail in the foreground and sky.

I like it, and I'm saving it. But a caveat: it's baaaaarely special enough. Try something different next time so it's a more grabbing shot.

Focus seems soft. I think you should have zoomed out more or taken a few steps back

Like the colors and the sky! I like 7/8ths of the shot.
The composition wads up on the far left. Bad, bad stumps!
