Constantine E. Iliades-ca.1942
Our uncle (from mother side) Costas Iliades, as a young doctor had served in the Greek Army against the invasion of Italy in 1940. Escaping by various means he reached Alexandria, Egypt, the naval base of allied fleet, where several Royal Greek Navy ships had fled. He soon after volunteered as an Ensign (M.D.) in the RGN during the 2nd WW, a boat lover himself, later rose to the rank of Honorary Rear Admiral in BOTH the US Navy and the Hellenic Navy!
