Buckled

f/2.6, Exp. 1 sec, ISO 50, Cropped in GIMP.

Aim: To take advantage of the aesthetic curves in the buckled wheel; the photograph this (temporarily) abandoned bike in the context of a (relatively) abandoned city street.

I took several shots with different exposures, and was tossing up between this and a slightly longer one, and ended up choosing this because I feel that it has more detail. I tried combining them into an HDR too, but they didn't overlap properly, so no go on that front.

Everything is very crisp, clear and lovely, the subject is interesting and I like the swooshiness of the tire and brake cables. I think the pic could have beneitted from using technique to isolate the subject more - DOF, framing, composition (though yours is nice - I don't think it quite does the job.)

I agreew ith lemonfresh here - good subject and well taken, but it could be represented better. I would frame in more of the road behind, give it a shallow DOF and let all the night lights blurr up to frame the bike without the harsh reality distractions.

i saw heaps of these sorts of bikes when in amsterdam - one i saw aginst afence looked like it had melted. i think this one may have been jumped on though ;)

The idea is great, I like the subject. But I miss some DOF, the main subject is the same focus as the background.
