If you think about geo applications, normally they all have to reinvent the wheel - they all have to find a way to get your location and then they use that location in various ways. It would be easier if you could capture your location any way you wanted using any number of different applications and then choose to share that location information with anyone application you wanted.

Fire Eagle sits in the middle. Anyone can build an application to capture your location, they can chuck that location to Fire Eagle in any number of ways, Fire Eagle will make sense of it and then you can authorise other applications to use your location, decide how much information to share (exact point, neighbourhood etc.)

In principle it should mean that it's much much easier to build stuff and that you can build on top of everyone else's work when you do geoapps. Should bootstrap the whole geo culture, if we get it right.
