One of these: "I have been far away and in these countries the people also have cute kids"-shots. These are millions of these shots in the world, everybody seems to take them because everybody else seems to take them too. I do not see the point in these shots, becvause they do not tell me much about the place.

The face is cute of course, the landscape and clothes are as expected. could be nicer in color though

Nice b/n portrait. What a pity for the shadow on the eyes. May be a little work with PS, could solve the problem.

It's a pity that you couldn't have aimed a reflector board or similar to cancel that shadow on her face. Also I think a square or to the side crop would help this shot a lot. She is smack in the middle - and the photo is landscape oriented.

I've been on a rampage this morning. Oh, but she is so clear, even at the largest. You can see tiny little details of the shreddiness of her headscarf, the lines around her eyes, feel the texture of her coat. I think I want to eat her up.

Plus the fact that she's laughing at you scores a:

Nice capture .. I do feel the bottom part of her does not really add anything to the shot .. other than that, the tonal range in the shot seems narrow .. lotsa greys, few whites and blacks .. Probably because of the background .. I'd try adding a contrast layer in photoshop, masking it at the bright parts of the sky if needed ..

Beautiful portrait. At first I thought that the face of this lovely girl should be in the sunlight instead of her tibetan jacket. At the other hand: the shadow in het face makes her smile even bigger. And the evidence of the wind in the background makes me saving this picture.

Great job.

@.m: I did not want to alter the original too much. At 5000m, with a strong sun, that's how things look. That's also the reason why her face is in the shadow : so that we can see her eyes open (relatively that is).

But in color the underexposure of the face does hurt more. Sorry.

Now you see how hard I work, trying to shot the non-obvious and the things not shot before or the obvious in a non obvious way.

Every single shot is a fight against a backdrop of millions of pictures I have seen before. Some of my portraits meet my own criteria and some of my panos and macros do too, but it is very hard. Most of my pictures are just trying to achieve a little step in preparation for my big pictures.

I think another way is not right for me because I am bored so fast and I do not want to be bored by my own work.

The tones, the exposure, the angle and mainly the smile... make this a very strong image. I like the level of detail in the defender and I do like the good use of color and eye contact... but this shot just has a lot going for it imho.

She is beautiful, and luckily you have a great camera to catch all the details so sharply. The composition and the lighting however are not so interesting. I might zoom in more on her face, as her clothing adds very little intrest to the image. i would also place her off center, which would still allow you to get some of the landscape in while giving the image more impact.

Ofcourse its very pretty, because the girl is very pretty! Everyone already seems to think that is enough, so it really doesnt matter what I think :)
